Pandora--World of Avatar truly is a world unto itself. It's beautiful, it's immersive, and it's home to two new rides that live up to the Disney standard. You could spend a whole afternoon just taking everything in, and if you have the time, we recommend doing just that; The Na'avi River Journey is visually striking, the tribal music show that pops up throughout the day is a lot of fun, the Satu'li Canteen menu takes an impressive step outside the standard Disney quick service menu, we could go on and on with all the Pandora has to offer. But if your time is limited and you can't spend half your day on the Pandora moon, here are the 5 things you can't miss.
1. Ride Flight of Passage
The GIANT wait Flight of Passage has been racking up each day is enough to turn any reasonably-minded person away. But this ride is THE most amazing thing I have ever experienced. Think Soarin', but more immersive, more impressive, more jaw-dropping. If there's only one thing you do in Pandora, it needs to be this.
To do it without waiting for 3+ hours, you need a fastpass, which means making sure you're prepared to book the second your fastpass window opens. If you can't get a FP, you have a few other options: rope drop the ride or wait until park closing. The ride hasn't been closing at capacity before park closing in the last few weeks like it had been the few weeks after opening, so if you can manage to stay awake late, get in line just before the park closes. You can save yourself precious park time by waiting to ride until the end of the night. Whatever option you go with, enjoy your ride on the back of a banshee!
2. enjoy a Night BLOSSOM from Pongu Pongu
This drink has been blowing up Instagram feeds since AP previews, and for good reason. It's as delicious as it is beautiful, albeit quite sweet. The desert pear flavor is unique, and the layer of apple makes for a pretty powerful tang, but everyone agrees the best part is the passion fruit boba balls. I could probably eat a full cup of them by themselves...
The $4.99 price tag is pretty reasonable for anything at WDW, honestly, so snag one before you head into the Na'avi River Journey line!
3. See the Bioluminescent Glow
Pandora is breathtaking in the daylight, but it's indescribable once the sun sets. If you're planning to rope drop Pandora, make sure you make your way back into the land at night for a quick walk-through. It's unlike anything I've ever seen. If you do manage to snag some fastpasses, I recommend an evening time so that you can save your wandering through Pandora for the best time of the day.
4. Take in the Details
There's so much to look at on this new world--make sure you stop and take some time to take in the details. You can find all kinds of impressive Na'avi art and unique plants around; even the ground is beautiful!
5. Take a Walk Through Windtraders
Gift shops are not normally high on recommendation lists, but Windtraders is not just any gift shop. There's plenty of unique things to look at, including shoulder-sitting banshees and souvenirs that glow like the bioluminescent landscape. Even if you don't buy anything, just browsing all the things Disney can come up with to make a little money can provide plenty of entertainment.
Honorable mention on this list goes to just simply walking around. Sit on stuff. Listen to the sounds of the strange lifeforms that inhabit the area. Watch people gawk at the Flight of Passage wait time. More than any other area in Animal Kingdom, Pandora is a great place to just sit and people watch. Just grab a night blossom before you do!
Whatever it is you manage to enjoy in Pandora, it will be an experience unlike any other!
