I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of bags--tote bags, suitcases, purses, I don't discriminate. I just love finding the perfect way to carry around the things I need. I do quite a bit of traveling each year at this time in my life, including to Europe with my students, so I've had the opportunity to really hone my bag repertoire. These are some of my favorite bags for travel of all kind, including trips to Florida or California for some Disney magic!
I have several bags from Lo & Sons, but the Catalina Deluxe is my favorite. The rigid insert for the bottom compartment helps it to not droop, a malady many tote bags suffer from. It has plenty of pockets inside and out, including a slip-through for your luggage handle. I refuse to buy a carry-on bag without this component, now.
It's roomy enough to pack for a 1-2 day trip, but I like to use it as my carry-on for trips to Walt Disney World. It is more than big enough for my plane-essentials, but it also gives me some spare room for souvenirs on the way home!
I have an older version of this sling camera bag, but I like that the new version is much more sleek and it comes in several colors. This is my go-to bag in the parks because it can fit my camera, as well as a few other essentials. My favorite part is how accessible it is. I sometimes wear it as a sling, which is what it is intended for, but I more often just throw the strap over my shoulder like a tote. It makes it easy to get to my camera on quick notice and then stash it away when I'm boarding my doombuggy for the 17th time.
Another sling camera bag that's a bit cheaper than the Incase version. This one has a little more room than the Incase and looks more like a satchel purse, if that fits your style better.
I'M IN LOVE, I'M IN LOVE, AND I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT!
Away luggage is the best thing that happened to my bag life. I bought myself a Bigger Carry-On for Christmas last year, and it has already done its fair share of traveling since then. This little guy is super easy to clean, durable, has excellent interior organization (including a laundry bag!), and even comes with a removable battery to charge your phone. And I've packed for 12 days in Europe with it. IN LOVE.
In an unfortunate baggage-handling incident on my return from Europe this summer, the corner of my bag cracked, so I contacted Away because they have an awesome lifetime warranty. They quickly got a new suitcase sent out to me in just a few days, totally free of charge. So awesome! I chose the blush color below to replace my damaged suitcase, and I just added this adorable vintage Disneyland sticker to the front of it; I thought it could use some Disney flair!
I don't actually have this bag...yet. But Madewell makes such great leather pieces, and I have loved my Madewell Medium Transport Tote all through Europe and San Francisco. This backpack version makes traveling hands-free, which is great for Europe AND theme parks. I like that this bag has a zipper pocket and slip pockets on the inside and that it opens up wider than a normal zipper-top backpack. I think this will be my Christmas present to myself this year!
